The 2023-24 college basketball season is rapidly approaching and we now have a complete look at Villanova's schedule for the season.
We've had the non-conference schedule for about a month now, highlighted by a trip to the Bahamas for the Battle 4 Atlantis, a Big East-Big 12 Battle matchup with Kansas State, a Gavitt Games date with Maryland and the revamped Big 5 format.
Big East play will kick off with a trip to Creighton on December 20 and close with the Wildcats hosting Creighton on March 9. The Big East Tournament is set to run from March 13-16.
The most difficult stretch of the schedule appears to be a five-game run over the second half of January. The Cats will play at Marquette on January 15, host reigning national champion UConn on January 20, play consecutive road games at St. John's and Butler (January 24 and 27, respectively) before hosting Marquette on January 30. With UConn, Marquette and Creighton expected to be the toughest competition in the conference, this stretch includes three of the six most difficult games on the conference slate. Add in a trip to visit a St. John's team that enters the season with a lot of hype and an always difficult trip to Hinkle Fieldhouse and Villanova will be tested in this stretch.
'Nova will be spending a lot of time at its home away from home in South Philadelphia. In addition to hosting UCLA at the Wells Fargo Center, four conference games will be held in South Philly: UConn on Jan. 20, Providence on Feb. 4, Seton Hall on Feb. 11 and Creighton on March 9. The wrap of the Big 5 schedule, the new Philadelphia Big 5 Classic, will also be held at the Center on December 2.
