USA Basketball has announced the 35-player roster that will take part in the 2023 USA U19 Men's National Team Training Camp beginning on June 11, and there are two players with Villanova connections taking part.
The most direct link is current Villanova guard Mark Armstrong. Armstrong also competed with Team USA last summer, helping lead the team to a gold medal at the 2022 FIBA U18 Americas Championship. After that experience, he joined Villanova for his freshman collegiate season, averaging 5.3 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 19.9 minutes per game while showing flashes of why he was a top 50 player in his class.
The other link is Johnuel "Boogie" Fland, a target for Villanova in the class of 2024. Fland is a five-star prospect who is ranked No. 9 in his class.
The 35-player roster will be trimmed to 12, who will represent the United States at the 2023 FIBA U19 Men's World Cup. The event will run from June 24-July 2 and will take place in Hungary.
