We continue to inch closer to the start of the 2021-22 college basketball season and on Tuesday we hit another milestone on the journey to the season as Villanova announced its non-conference schedule for the season. Here is who Villanova will play outside of Big East play...
Nov. 9 Mount St. Mary's
Nov. 12 at UCLA
Nov. 16 Howard
Nov. 20 Tennessee (neutral, Hall of Fame Tip-Off Classic)
Nov. 21 Purdue/UNC (neutral, Hall of Fame Tip-Off Classic)
Nov. 28 at La Salle
Dec. 1 at Penn
Dec. 4 St. Joe's
Dec. 7 Syracuse (neutral, Jimmy V Classic)
Dec. 12 at Baylor (Big East/Big 12 Battle)
Dec. 29 Temple
All home non-conference games will take place at Finneran Pavilion.
Times and TV information will be released in conjunction with the Big East schedule. That release has not been scheduled yet.
The long break between the last two non-conference games would lead one to believe that Big East play will kick off sometime between Dec. 12 and Dec. 29, but we'll have to wait on confirmation of that.
For now, we have the dates of the non-conference games and confirmation that Villanova will play one of the best non-conference schedules in the country. It's noteworthy that the five toughest games on the non-conference schedule will take place either on the road (UCLA, Baylor) or at a neutral site (Tennessee, Purdue/UNC, Syracuse). Four or five of Villanova's non-conference opponents will likely be ranked in the preseason Top 25.
