With the regular season coming to a close, the Big East announced all-conference selections on Sunday. Three Wildcats were honored.
Eric Dixon earned a place on the second team. The big man posted career highs points per game (16.0), rebounds per game (6.5) and assists per game (1.5) while shooting 50.7% overall and 37.9% from three. He scored in double figures in 28 of Villanova's 31 games, including a career-high 31 in a win over No. 19 Creighton.
Cam Whitmore and Mark Armstrong were both named to the conferences all-freshman team.
Whitmore averaged 12.6 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game while shooting 46.9% overall and 34.7% from three. After Villanova started the season 2-5 with Whitmore sitting out with a thumb injury, the Wildcats posted a 14-10 record upon Whitmore's return.
Armstrong's statistical numbers aren't as impressive (4.9 points, 1.8 rebounds, 0.9 assists), but Armstrong flashed his intriguing potential during the season. Dealing with a somewhat inconsistent role, Armstrong showed growth throughout the season and provided plenty for 'Nova fans to be excited about going forward. One of his best games of the season was a 13-point, seven-rebound, three-assist effort in a win over Boston College.
It's certainly well-deserved recognition for the trio of Wildcats, each who played a role in Villanova showing growth through a tough season.
