Villanova kicked off the 2024-25 season with a 75-63 win over Lafayette. Playing without Eric Dixon, the 'Cats got contributions from up and down the lineup. Here's a look at how each player fared Monday night, along with a grade for their showing.

Enoch Boakye A

Boakye produced a double-double in his Villanova debut, scoring 10 points on efficient 4-5 shooting while grabbing 11 rebounds. He also added two assists and two blocks and provided great energy. He tied Wooga Poplar with a team-high +16. The big man did a good job knowing when to challenge a shot and when to simply defend with an under control contest, and his ability to impact the rim defensively, rebound and finish with authority around the rim offensively gives this Villanova team a component it hasn't had in some time.

Jhamir Brickus B

Brickus also had a solid and efficient debut, scoring 13 points on 5-7 shooting while adding four assists, two steals and a rebound. The guard did a good job running the offense and picking his spots to try to score. He was a +13 on the night. His four turnovers prevent him from earning an A in his debut, but still an encouraging start for Brickus.

Tyler Perkins B

Perkins wasn't as efficient as he would have liked to have been, hitting 5-13 overall and 1-4 from three en route to 13 points. He also did a bit of everything, adding five rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block.

Wooga Poplar A

Poplar was the star of the night, posting a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. He shot 8-13 overall and 2-3 from deep while adding three steals and an assist. As we noted, he tied Boakye as a team-high +16. He committed five turnovers, a number he'll have to clean up, but overall a great debut for the Philly native.

Jordan Longino C

Longino had an off night offensively, hitting just 3-14 shots while missing all five of his three-point attempts. That won't be good enough against better competition. To Longino's credit, however, he found other ways to contribute. He dished out a team-high five assists, grabbed three rebounds and had two steals and a block. He also drew five Lafayette fouls.

Josiah Moseley A

What a debut for the freshman. Moseley played nearly 17 minutes and mad all five of his shot attempts for 10 points. He looked more than comfortable and Kyle Neptune praised Moseley's understanding of and ability to execute the game plan defensively.

Kris Parker Incomplete

Parker played just under six minutes, making it hard to draw a ton of conclusions. He missed the only two shots he attempted, committed two fouls and lost a turnover. He did grab two rebounds, and while he didn't do anything that stood out, we'll take a wait and see approach at this point.

Nnanna Njoku C+

First and foremost, it was just good to see Njoku be able to get out on the court. He played just over 13 minutes, contributing two points and two rebounds. The big man provided some good energy and helped set the tone with his hustle when out there, and while his statistical contributions were modest, he provided some important minutes, especially with Dixon out.
