Jalen Brunson is one of the most decorated Villanova basketball players of all-time and now he will take his rightful place among the programs legends.

The school announced on Tuesday that Brunson's jersey will be retired in a ceremony at halftime of Villanova's game against DePaul on February 8 at Finneran Pavilion.

Brunson is one of only two Wildcats to win National Player of the Year honors and was a two-time national champion.

In 2017-18, Brunson averaged 18.9 points, 4.6 assists and 3.1 rebounds per game en route to helping Villanova to its second national title in three years. He shot 52.1% from the floor and 40.8% from three. He collected the Oscar Robertson, John R. Wooden and Naismith trophies that season in addition to the Bob Cousy Award as the nation's top point guard. He was also the Big East Player of the Year.

“Jalen put together one of the most amazing Villanova Basketball careers ever,” Wildcats head coach Kyle Neptune said. “His remarkable will and work ethic left an indelible mark on our program. He set a standard of excellence, on and off the court, that still impacts us today. We can’t wait to celebrate Jalen’s legendary Villanova career with the Nova Nation.”

In three seasons on the Main Line, Brunson accumulated 1,667 points (14.4 per game) and 432 assists (3.7 per game). He was Big East All-Freshman in his rookie season at 'Nova and earned All-Conference honors in each of his following two seasons.

A plaque honoring Brunson will join the other players to be honored with jersey retirement in the main lobby of the Finneran Pavilion. While Brunson's jersey will be retired, his No. 1 will remain in use within the program, as are all retired jerseys with the exception of Paul Arizin's No. 11.
