As the Wildcats make their way through another pause in team activities, there was some program-related news on Wednesday. The mid-season Wooden Award watchlist was released, cutting down from 50 players on the preseason list to 25, and both Collin Gillespie and Jeremiah Robinson-Earl made the cut.
Gillespie is averaging 15.3 points while shooting 44.4% from beyond the arc. He is adding a team-high 4.2 assists, 2.9 rebounds, and a team-high 1.2 steals. Gillespie is averaging less than a turnover per game and has handed out 38 assists to just eight turnovers this season.
Robinson-Earl, meanwhile, leads the team in both points (16.2) and rebounds (7.6) to go with two assists. He's hitting 54.5% of his field goal attempts.
The duo has been instrumental to Villanova's success so far this season and Wednesday's announcement is some well-deserved recognition for the pair and the program.
Big East players joining the pair of Wildcats on the list are UConn's James Bouknight and Creighton's Marcus Zegarowski.
