Villanova fans got some huge news on Tuesday.
The school announced that Eric Dixon will return for the 2024-25 season.\
“Thank you to all the NBA teams that invited me out for workouts and attended my pro day,” Dixon said via the school's release. “I learned a lot going through this process and received great feedback on my game. I am excited to take the advice with me as I further strengthen my skill set at Villanova University. More importantly, I’m ready to handle some unfinished business with my Villanova Basketball Family.”
“Eric handled this process with great maturity and thought,” head coach Kyle Neptune said via the release. “We’re obviously thrilled that he will be returning to lead our team in 2024-25. Throughout his time here, Eric’s work ethic, intelligence and skill have allowed him to improve every year. In our minds, he’s one of the top basketball players in the country and a cornerstone of our program.”
Dixon, a second team All-Big East selection last season, led the Wildcats in both scoring (16.6) and rebounding (6.5) last season. He is one of only 12 players in program history to record at least 1,400 points (1,499) and 700 rebounds (724).
The news obviously significantly improves Villanova's outlook for the 2024-25 season as Neptune and staff continue to round out the roster for next season.
