Dylan Ennis, announced today that he will transfer to Villanova from Rice. Ennis will be required to sit out one transfer season and will have three years of eligibility beginning in the 2013-14 season. Essentially, he would join the current Freshman class of Ryan Arcidiacono and Daniel Ochefu as they begin their Sophomore seasons.
The 6'2", 180 lb., Guard played one season at Rice posting 8.5 PPG, 4.3 RPG and 4.1 APG in 26.5 MPG. Ennis shot 43.5% from the floor, 35.4% from beyond the three-point arc and converted 66.4% of his free throws. He made a name for himself with active defense. He is a good athlete with long arms who posted career highs of 21 points, 10 rebounds in 11 assists (twice) against and East Carolina, Southern Miss., and Tulane/East Carolina respectively.
The Villanova coaching staff did extensive research on Ennis prior to aggressively pursuing him as a transfer candidate. Many Conference USA opposing coaches were contacted and, to a man, they whole-heartedly endorsed Ennis as a player who could contribute at the Big East level. Ennis recently visited the Villanova campus to meet with the coaching staff and players and to determine if he was a fit both on the team and academically.
