Villanova’s “sixth starter” got in on the awards on Monday, earning the Big East Sixth Man Award. He joins teammates Jalen Brunson, Mikal Bridges, and Omari Spellman who were honored with places on the All-Big East teams yesterday.
It’s a well-deserved honor for DiVincenzo, who provided a spark off the bench all season long in addition to stepping into the starting lineup while Phil Booth was sidelined.
DiVincenzo averaged 13.8 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.3 steals. He shot 48% from the field, 39% from deep, and 71% from the line. All those numbers represent a significant increase over his numbers from a season ago, including a five-point increase on his scoring and a doubling of his assists.
It’s great to see DiVincenzo get recognized for his great season, and the early signs of his progression are encouraging for Nova Nation.
