There's no surprise here, but Cam Whitmore has officially declared for the NBA Draft. Whitmore made the announcement in an interview with Shams Charania.
Again, this was the expected outcome even before Whitmore had played a game at Villanova. Whitmore showed more than enough during his freshman season at Villanova to maintain his draft stock, showing elite athleticism, a bevy of moves and a respectable three-point shot. He averaged 12.5 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.4 steals and earned Big East Freshman of the Year honors.
Whitmore is currently projected to be a lottery pick, with most mock drafts having him selected between No. 5 and No. 12.
It would have been great to get another year of Whitmore at Villanova, but instead he will join the growing number of former Wildcats representing the program at basketball's highest level.
