Amar Austin: 1-on-1 with D.J. Rivera

One on One with D.J Rivera
On Friday at the Adidas Philly USA All-City Classic, I got a chance to go one on one with 6-2 180-lb Ss. Neumann & Goretti power guard Derrick "D.J" Rivera. D.J is one of the more tenacious players in the country. He gives 110% each and every time out and brings that ultra level of intensity that every coach loves. He's easily one of the Nation's top 150 players in the country in the class of 2006 going into the summer. On Wednesday at Noon, he is slated to have a press conference at Neumann-Goretti. He is expected to choose the Cats biggest Non-Conference Rival, St. Joseph's. Here's what D.J had to say.

"My final 5 are St. Joe's, Miami (FL), Penn State, Georgia Tech & Georgetown with St. Joe's and Miami being my top two. I have a press conference slated for Wednesday afternoon in which I'll choose between those two. I visited St. Joe's a few times including earlier this week."
"I plan on attending either Reebok-ABCD (Teaneck, NJ) or Adidas Superstar Camp (Suwanee, GA) in early July. I haven't decided which one yet."
"I'll be traveling this summer with Rasheed Wallace's Hunting Park Warriors and the Philadelphia Ball Hawks. At the end of the week, our Hunting Park team (which also has Earl Pettis, Scoop Jardine, Rick Jackson, Marcus & Markieff Morris & Jason Love) will travel to Chicago for the Adidas Illinois Fire Tournament."
Note: D.J will remain in the big 5 and be one of the 'Cats biggest rivals for the next 4 years. There should be some fun times in the old City Series.
