Employees of Alliancesports, Jabez Networks, Rivals.com, Yahoo, and e-Nova Solutions, and Recruits/Prospects in the Rivals.com database, and any Player, Scholarship or Non-Scholarship, Head Coach or Assistant Coach or any person or school bound by NCAA regulations of a team affiliated with the Yahoo/Rivals.com network, their parents and the immediate families or members of the same households of such persons are not eligible. By entering, you (and your parents and/or legal guardians if you are a minor) agree to these Official Rules and the decisions of Rivals.com, which are final and binding in all respects. While anyone is eligible to enter the VUSports.com Pick-'Em contest, only VUSports.com subscribers (who remain subscribers through the men's basketball season) are eligible for the Tier 1 prizes (see below.) All others are eligible for Tier 2 prizes. To be eligible for the Tier 1 prize, contestants must be subscribers of VUSports.com/villanova.rivals.com for the entire length of the contest.
The entry period begins on 11/09/15 @ 10:00 pm Eastern Standard Time (EST). The entry period will end on 11/30/15 @ 5:00 pm Eastern Standard Time (EST). The Contest will conclude after the 2015-2016 Villanova Men's Basketball Regular Season is completed (excluding the Big East Tournament).
Each person has the opportunity to complete one entry using the on-line system on villanova.rivals.com. Any attempt to register other than the aforementioned method or multiple times will be void. Rivals.com reserves the right to offer additional methods of entry at its own discretion.
No responsibility is assumed for lost, late, incomplete, misdirected email; or for any computer, telephone, cable, network, satellite, electronic or Internet hardware or software malfunctions, failures, connections, availability or garbled or jumbled transmissions, or service provider/Internet/web site/use net accessibility or availability, traffic congestion, or unauthorized human intervention, or the incorrect or inaccurate capture of entry or other information, or the failure to capture any such information.
An entry will get 10 points for each outcome predicted correctly and 0 points for an incorrect prediction. In addition to the 10 point scoring system, bonus points will be available, as follows:
Two points for correctly picking a road victory
One point for correctly picking a home loss
The points for each game will be totaled at the contest's end to come up with a composite score. The highest composite score will be awarded first place, the second highest composite score will be awarded second place, and so on.
In the event of a tie of the composite score, we will consult our tie-breakers. The first tie-breaker is a contestant's
choice of the team's leading scorer (by per-game average.) If the contest is not decided using the first tie-breaker, the second tie-breaker is the number of points the leading scorer averages per game. If the first two tie-breakers do not decide the outcome, we will rank participants based on the time of their contest submission. The first to submit will be declared the victor. We will use the official Villanova University web-site as the determinate of the outcome and statistics.
Multiple prizes will be awarded for the entire contest. One grand prize of a full-year's subscription to VUSports.com will go to the overall winner (as determined by point system detailed below.) One second prize of a six-month subscription to VUSports.com will go the second place contestant. One third prize of a three-month subscription to VUSports.com will go to the third place contestant.
One first place prize of a three-month subscription to VUSports.com will go to the overall winner. One second place prize of a two-month subscription to VUSports.com will go the second entrant. One third place prize of a free month subscription will go to the third place contestant.
Odds of winning the contest depend on the number of eligible entries received for the promotional period. All prizes are expressed in U.S. Dollars. Taxes are the sole responsibility of the winner. A prize won by a minor (as minor is defined by the jurisdiction of the minor's residence) will be awarded in the name of, or to, the minor's parent or legal guardian, or as may otherwise be deemed appropriate by Rivals.com, in its sole judgment.
Winner, and winner's parents or legal guardians if winner is a minor (both on behalf of themselves and winner) must execute and return an Affidavit of Eligibility, a Liability Release, and where lawful, a Publicity Release within 5 days of
notification. Failure to return documents timely, or if prize notification is returned undelivered, or if winner is found to be not in compliance with these Official Rules, or otherwise ineligible, disqualification may result with an alternate winner selected.
Where permitted by law, winner, and winners' parents or legal guardians if winner is a minor (both on behalf of themselves and winner), agrees to grant to Sponsor, and those acting pursuant to its or their direction or control, the right to print, publish, broadcast and use, worldwide in any media known or hereafter developed, including but not limited to the world wide web, at any time or times, the winner's name, portrait, picture, voice, likeness and biographical information as news or information and for advertising, trade and promotional purposes without additional consideration; and further without such additional compensation, appear for, or provide biographical information for use in, any presentations or other activity which may include filming/audio/video/electronic or other recordings and/or interviews, as may be determined from time to time by Sponsor.
By accepting a prize a winner, and winner's parents or legal guardians if winner is a minor (both on behalf of themselves and winner), agrees that any Affidavit and/or Releases, and any grant of permission to use the winner's name, portrait, picture, voice, likeness and biographical information, as stated above, may be secured by Sponsor electronically, for example but not limited to, by email or by facsimile, and such secured Affidavit and/or Releases and permission will have the same force and effect as if any of them had been secured in a written document which has physically executed by the winner.
Sponsor reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual it finds, in its sole discretion, to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Drawing or website; to be in violation of the Terms of Service of the web site, to be acting in violation of the Official Rules; or to be acting in a non-sportsmanlike or disruptive manner, or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person. Any use of robotic, automatic, macro, programmed or like entry methods will void all such methods and persons using any such methods will be disqualified. Sponsor will prosecute any fraudulent activities to the full extent of the law.
