2006 ABCD Player Eval: Sylvan Landesburg
Teaneck, N.J. - Class of 2008 stand-out, Sylvan Landesberg, 6'6", 195 lb, Wing, Holy Cross, Queens (NY) were in action at the 2006 Reebok ABCD Camp last week. Here is an evaluation of his performance at the camp. Landesburg played the 3 almost exclusively against the 1st tier players during the camp.

Strengths: Landesburg sees the floor well and is a good passer. He has long arms that aid him defensively and in getting his shot off from the wing. He has a nice handle and is capable of creating offense off the dribble. Landesburg plays under control.
Weaknesses: Has a tendency to float around and not impact the play at either end of the floor for stretches. At times appears to avoid contact. He shot the three-ball very poorly through the week but then he didn't jack it up from beyond the arc as willingly as many of the players at the camp. Landesburg is a step to a step-and-a-half slower than a high major prospect should be but he still finds ways to be effective in transition with the ball. Using length more than speed to create off the dribble in the half-court.
Villanova is in very good shape in the recruitment of Sylvan Landesburg. As with Braswell, the Cats will need some scholarship spots to open in order to have room for Landesburg in the program.
