Strengths: Hughes is a player that has intrigued many with his athletic upside over the past two seasons. He clearly has NBA-caliber raw athleticism, and has good shot blocking instincts that should be able to transfer over to the next level. On the offensive end, he has some raw tools and the body to finish inside against other big men. Weaknesses: Lack of aggressiveness has been a concern at times for Hughes, who didn't always dominate against poor competition in college. He is a good run/jump athlete, but he seems slow laterally. Hughes doesn't show much mobility on the low block. Outlook: Hughes is a project big man at this point, and will likely need either a couple years on the bench or some time in the D-League before he is ready for NBA action. A team may gamble on him in the second round, but he could just as easily go undrafted.
