Villanova darted out of the gate quickly - establishing a +10 rebounding margin, getting out in transition, draining threes and benefitting from some poor West Virginia shooting from both the floor and the FT line. The Cats failed to capitalize on two opportunities to extend a 13 point lead - one with the final possession of the 1st half and the other a missed lay-up on the first chance in the 2nd half. West Virginia scored on the ensuing possession, the lead was only 11 and it was game on. The Mountaineers controlled tempo, Reggie Redding and Corey Stokes got in some foul trouble, and Scottie Reynolds struggled to get his jumper to fall.
